Description

The 2014 EPIP People of Color Network Gathering (PCN, formerly Professional Development Fund or PDF) will take place at Race Forward's Facing Race National Conference to be held in Dallas, TX from November 13-15, 2014. The PCN offers participants access to professional development training and intergenerational learning opportunities, with the intent of diversifying and retaining people of color within the sector. The content of the PCN gathering itself is three-fold: 1) making personal connections to social justice work; 2) understanding structural racism; and 3) bringing this work back home. This year's PCN Gathering will be open to all: people of color and white allies.

Facing Race: A National Conference is presented by Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation.

The 2014 EPIP PCN gathering registration includes:

  • A half-day of EPIP-designed professional development training on Thursday, November 13 from 10:00AM - 4:30PM to equip emerging people of color within the philanthropic sector by building skills and developing personal connections that challenge existing systems of inequity.
  • 3-day all access to Facing Race, a national biennial conference presented by Race Forward, featuring sessions that build multiracial and intergenerational power and convene leaders working to bridge the racial equity gap. Facing Race will be held in Dallas, Texas on November 13-15, 2014.

The PCN was established in 2005 to widen the leadership pipeline and create opportunities for skills development and personal growth of young people of color in foundations and other philanthropic institutions. Since its inception, EPIP’s PCN has engaged 100+ young leaders from a diverse range of institutions, geographic locations, backgrounds and roles within the philanthropic field.

Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP) is a national network of foundation professionals and social entrepreneurs who strive for excellence in the practice of philanthropy. Our mission is to develop emerging leaders committed to building a just, equitable, and sustainable society. EPIP exists to ensure that emerging foundation professionals are effective stewards of philanthropic resources and all social entrepreneurs reach their potential as leaders.

EPIP supports emerging leaders and social entrepreneurs in their professional and personal philanthropy. Our organization promotes emerging thought nurtured in places outside traditional, old-guard philanthropy. We promote diverse, multigenerational perspectives and value innovation for meeting societal challenges. We recognize institutional and community-based forms of philanthropy.

We hope you will join us for this year's EPIP PCN gathering.
